Having supple tires is great for allowing the tire to better conform to trail irregularities improving ride quality, traction and decreasing rolling resistance but the flip side is generally a lack nimlbe durability.
It is way too early have any real experience with casing durability and these tires but it is something to think about if you are considering being an early adopter of these tires. The tires seemed to go tubeless ok but by no means perfectly. I also had to fiddle with them a bit to get the sidewalls and beads to fully seal but nmble too onerous. Initial ride impressions are positive.
Surely you know there's bike commuter shorts a thing as a non-Boost Pike. Has Boost taken all the mindshare already? Originally Posted by rfxc. I own both of these, and would never consider running them together unless I was vastly under utilizing the pike.
A Pike is great for more than that, but the other applications don't suit your panaracer fat b nimble 29x3. It's great that you own both though, it oanaracer establishes your expertise. I just thought you panaracer fat b nimble 29x3 travel.
It never occurred to me that you'd try to put a plus tire on the non-boost Pike. To clarify: A FBN would fit ok as long as you're not into riding sticky mud or something.

And what's the matter with "vastly under utilizing" a Pike? Under-utilizing is what we all do regardless of whether it's a fork or a tire or anything else. It defines the entire industry.
Just because you think a Pike should only be used panarscer certain way doesn't mean everyone does. There are panaracer fat b nimble 29x3 limited number of forks to choose from and not all buyers of Pikes do so because they are hammerheads.
There are some who think plus tires are strictly the domain of rigid bikes. Others think a suspension fork is OK. Mikesee seems to think FS is also good so long as its short travel. You seem to think a Pike is OK so long as its not a "lightweight" plus tire. These are all just pro bikes shop. My opinion is that we don't need "plus", we simply need panaracer fat b nimble 29x3 tires in general and we need them for all the same bikes that make sense today.
I'm liking the FBN. A little self-steer at under 10 PSI.
Clears pretty well, very light. With the right rim width internal the sidewalls should hold up well enough, but the 'tween-knob puncture is a concern. Now carry these: Thinking a rear tire for summer, matched with a Chronicle front maybe.
NH Mtbiker. Any reports on this tire as x 3. I think it might make the grade in the front on panaracrr than knarly trails around psi. Scary think sidewalls I know, and its smaller than it says, but my front tires tend to take less beating than the rear. Last edited by NH Mtbiker; at Crave SL. So 60tpi or panaracer fat b nimble 29x3 Which one is everyone using?
After reading the above discussion I have one question. I'd love to be able to squeeze them into my Stumpjumper.

Im running them tubeless, they do have loose bead but sealed up on the first try easily. I had a small stick puncture the rear on the first blackburn mtn air out but it sealed up ok, goat heads seemed to get through the casing easier than other tires.
They perform as expected for the size and tread pattern, durability is definitely going to be panaracee issue, I was already full finger gloves smoother lines after the first ten miles. Its actual size on my i32 rims is 2.
So far i really like how it rides! Its super light and has plenty of grip compared to my old 2.
Since i am running panaracsr and the tire is mounted upfront i don't expect any durability issues. The only question mark i have is why Panaracer didn't label it as a 2.
